While I believe that the following account of Deborah Davis'
life within the religious sex cult, formerly known as the
'Children Of God', then as 'The Family Of Love', and now
simply referred to as 'The Family', is accurate, and honest
to the best of her ability, I do not fully agree with some
of her conclusions and analyses. While her personal perspec-
tives may indeed hold true in her own life, we are each
individuals; as such, what may apply to her life does not
necessarily apply to the lives of others who may have
likewise been members of this dangerous cult.

through it. The events described in this book terminated
about twenty years ago, and Mrs. Davis, and her family, wish

It is my hope that the information contained in this book
will be a help to members and ex-members of the COG, to
their families and relatives, as well as to those people who
may be, or who may have been, members of other cults as
well, because some of their tactics are the same.
Be advised that the Children of God / The Family cult
has some extremely strange and unscriptural doctrines
which are a rather drastic departure from orthodox
Christianity; particularly in regards to sex, and the
relationship between adults and children. This book by
Deborah Davis may contain descriptive language which
you, or your children, may find offensive.
If you choose to read this book, you do so at your own

dangers presented by the Children of God / The Family
